Sometimes I read books and I can't resist making notes and looking things up; this is the result. Some (not all) of these things are pretty easy to look up anyway on the Internet, but I like the effect of pulling them together in one place. Other things might be obvious to someone from the U.S., but not to readers elsewhere. There are also some notes that are just there to clarify plot connections, but I'm not trying to insult anyone's intelligence— it's more like helping myself keep track of the story.

Nitpicking involves finding little things that, if left alone, would just make you itchy. At a nitbar, you can taste an assortment of nits and be nourished by them. Or just let them hatch and maybe they'll make conversation.
