is currently a small college town between Ashford
on the River Stour
. It's surrounded by hilly terrainthe North Downs across the river, and Crundale
and the Wye Downs to the east and southwith flatter farmland to the southwest toward Ashford. On Riddley's map, How Fents seems to be a little further southeast away from the riverbut this is not surprising since these are semi-nomadic people who live in movable settlements, rather than in the ruins of the old cities.
The pun between Wye and How is not arbitrary: "How" suggests the search for knowledge, and people on the edge of survival are more concerned with "how" than "why."
